Dental Implants: say goodbye to teeth loss

By Brad Taylor
Everyone smiles in the same language said someone and probably that is the reason why people try to repair and make their smile perfect. We use different means to try and make our teeth perfect so that we can smile with confidence. Today immense advancements have been made in the field of dentistry and due to this almost any kind of dental defect starting from stained yellow teeth to dental implants can be done easily. Dental implants are a simple procedure through which missing teeth or tooth can be replaced. A person can have missing teeth at any point of time due to different reasons like an infection, gum disease, an accident, certain medical conditions and old age. Artificial tooth replacement can be easily done by dental implants; all you need to do is find out an efficient dentist for this.

For dental implants a metal screw is placed at the jawbone, where the artificial tooth or teeth are placed. The surface where the artificial tooth will be placed is treated by plasma spraying or by sandblasting to increase the possibility of successfully doing the implant. A hole is then carefully drilled in the jawbone and the implant is placed there. The dental implant surgery is performed under a general anesthesia by a dentist who is professionally trained to do the procedure. There must be enough bone in the jaw for the dental implant to work out successfully. However if there is not enough bone in the jaw this can be taken care of through a process called bone augmentation. The bone in the jaw and the adjoining gums must also be in good condition for dental implants to work out successfully.

Before you go for the procedure, you must make sure that you have a talk with the dentist and be familiar with all the things that will be involved with the procedure. It is only after you come to know about the whole process you can decide if you want to do dental implants or not. If you are not clear about any aspect of the procedure, make sure that you make this clear and get all the answers that you are looking for. If you take a look back to history you will find instances where dental implants have been in use since very early years. Mummies from ancient Egypt have been found to be wearing gold wire and semi precious stone dental implants. Evidence of dental implants has also been found in ancient Roman and European civilizations.

Dental implants have come as a boon for people who lose their teeth an early age due to any medical condition or an accident. After undergoing dental implants make sure that you follow all the dos and don’ts as advised by your dentist. Make sure to take proper care of your teeth by following simple procedures like brushing your teeth twice daily, reducing the intake of beverage that are either too hot or too cold and eating a healthy balanced diet.

Teeth - Your options with dentists and orthodontists.

By: Ventura

Good teeth, or good dentures are essential for comfortable speech and eating. Lots of people have come to assume that bright white teeth are the only good teeth - Not so. Teeth are naturally off-white to cream. You can spot an American abroad by their falsely white teeth.

Children's milk teeth are replaced by their adult teeth from about 8 years old. The final adult teeth, the wisdom teeth, may appear 10 years later, or may only partially erupt from their gums. Good teeth habits need to start early. These basically, include brushing teeth, cutting down on sweet foods and visiting the dentist regularly.

Dentist's visits are no longer the source of fear for children that they were for their parents or grandparents. Dentists are generally pleasant, if over-paid, professionals. They try their hardest to make their surgery pleasant and relaxing, especially for children.

A large percentage of 11 year old children already have fillings in their teeth. These fillings have a life of 5-10 years, so these individuals will be visiting the dentist regularly for life. Some children have no fillings whatsoever, and this is not because their parents are any more successful in teaching dental hygiene. My own daughter is 19, she eats chocolate and sweets like there is no tomorrow, has thin enamel on her back teeth, cleans her teeth somewhat minimally once a day and she still has no fillings! Just lucky. There’s no justice in this life!

The orthodontist and dental braces are feared by parents and children alike. The "Jaws" appearance of some braces leads children to fear name-calling and loss of opportunity with the opposite sex. Parents worry about the cost of all that metalwork.

There are many more ortho-dontal options than there ever were just a few years ago. Do your research, find out your options and do your best for your kids' long-term health.

Prevent Dental Problems

By: Juliet Cohen

Dental diseases such as the tooth decay and gum disease are two of the most common human diseases. Dental problems are among the most common health problems experienced by older adults. In fact, people over 65 with natural teeth have more tooth decay than any other age group. Dental problems can lead to poor nutrition. Unfortunately, these problems are often not attended to by older persons, particularly men. Some dental problems as bad breath and dry mouth might be symptoms of other serious health problems or systemic diseases. Gum disease is a serious dental problem. Gum disease has also been linked to heart disease and strokes. Gums shrink with age, exposing the tooth to decay or infection. Gum disease involves the inflammation of the gums and then infection. Gum disease can usually be prevented by good and careful teeth cleaning and regular cleanings or scale and polishes with your dentist or hygienist. Decayed teeth, which hold bacteria that can spread throughout the body, also can make a child more susceptible to other problems, such as ear and sinus infections.

A crown is a hollow cap that fits over a tooth, giving it strength and/or improving its appearance. Avoid cigarettes and chewing tobacco, which may contribute to gum disease and oral cancer. Certain medications can also aggravate gum disease, including oral contraceptives, antidepressants and heart medicines. Starchy and sugary foods increase plaque, and only a healthy diet provides the nutrients necessary to prevent gum disease. Gum Disease is an infection in the gums surrounding the teeth. Gum disease is also one of the main causes of tooth loss among adults. There are two major stages of gum disease: Gingivitis and Periodontitis. Such urgent dental problems include toothaches; fractured, loosened, and knocked-out teeth; jaw fractures; a dislocated jaw; and certain complications. Although dental problems are not exactly life-threatening, it is still a serious problem which warrants your concern and attention.

Fundamentals of Dental Care

By: Alek Mirkovich

Having Dental Problems? Its time to brush through the fundamentals of Dental Care

We often get to hear that eyes speak a lot about a person. They of course do! But what about teeth? I believe they contribute a lot in making or marring the personality of an individual. One glossy smile empowers you to win hearts very easily.

A smile flashed from a healthy set of teeth tends to attract and leave an impression. On the other hand, you may find bad breath and yellow teeth equally repulsive.
No other make-up effect can throw the same impact as clean pearly white teeth and fresh smelling breath.

Dental care is an integral part of hygienic and healthy living. Dentistry deals with dental care diagnosis, impediment, and management and curing of dental infections including gums, tooth decay, associated structures of mouth and flawed teeth. Considering dental care as a tooth whitening system is a safe and gentle way of curing discolorations and blemishes on teeth or enhancing and maintaining the natural color. Other than keeping your teeth in good condition, maintaining good oral health also builds self-confidence in overall appearance. Teeth cleaning appear more tempting if the result promises a brighter smile.

Several people are suffering from dental illness due to absolute idleness or lack of knowledge for adequate dental health. They fail to comprehend that teeth, gums and related mouth structures are extremely important for a sound health, physical appearance and overall well-being. Any dental condition, if not treated properly and in time, can lead to a bad situation. In fact, dental conditions are indicators of some other serious health problems, such as diabetes and HIV infection.
Following some simple techniques of personal hygiene can go a long way in preventing severe dental disorders in human beings.

1.Brushing your Teeth - You can enjoy FREE dental healthcare just by practicing the conventional way of brushing your teeth. Brushing teeth, twice a day, is a necessary and priority exercise for preventing tooth decomposition and gum ailments. However, it is also important to brush your teeth using the proper motion with your toothbrush.

2.Toothbrush Power - Your toothbrush is your key weapon to fight dental ailments. Remember to change your brush regularly and pay attention to form and size of toothbrush. Coarse bristles can pose extreme damage to your tooth enamel and injure your sensitive gums.

3.Submitting to Fluoride - Fluoride assists in protection from tooth decay. Using appropriate toothpaste containing fluoride is the best remedy for dental care.

4.Regular Check-up - Proper and in time diagnosis of dental problems can save you a lot of physical and monetary loss. Regular visits to your dentist can be one of the surest means to have perfect dental health. Experts recommend visiting your dentist’s office regularly every 6 months.

5.Flossing your teeth - Regular flossing post brushing is another simple way for preventing any gum disease. The accurate way to floss your teeth is to place the floss very gently amidst your teeth along the gum portion. Flossing discards the debris / plaque from the gum area of your teeth which cannot be reached and removed by your toothbrush. First time flossing may lead to slight bleeding, which will eventually cease once you start flossing your teeth regularly.

6.Good Balanced Diet - Eating a well nourished and balanced diet is another criterion for securing good dental health. Make sure that your everyday diet contains enough of calcium, iron and vitamins in proper quantity. You may even consume pill supplements of vitamin and calcium if your diet is not carrying enough proportion.

7.Mouthwash Backing - Always remember to use mouthwash daily if you are concerned about your oral health, but only after recommendation from your cosmetic dentist. Mouthwash is an excellent solution for maintaining excellent oral health as it keeps your mouth clean and fresh. Most dental specialists insist on the use of a fluoride-based mouthwash. Fluoride prevents and destroys bacteria responsible for causing plaque that leads to cavities and other gum diseases.

8.Dental Insurance - Dental care maintenance can be a costly affair. Therefore, acquiring dental insurance from a sound dental insurance company can mitigate the worries and hassles of otherwise expensive rate oral or dental care. Check for the dental insurance that covers the cost of dental treatment, from a regular dental health check to a severe or urgent situation.

Are you looking for a Dentist?

Today, people brew this dire need to look. Oral health is one major factor contributing to feeling and looking good. Finding a good dentist is an important parameter for people to have and maintain good oral health.

Earlier pulling teeth was easier as compared to cleansing teeth. However, with the advent of Cosmetic Dentistry, dentists have been able to place themselves at much favorable position by co-relating with self-admiration. Teaming up with advanced technologies, dentistry procedures have greatly evolved over time for mending almost any kind of dental defect. Adaptation of veneers, porcelain crowns, tooth whitening and invisible braces has kept more dentists in business than repairing tooth decay.

What is Halitosis?

By: Steve Searls

If you think you may have halitosis, or what is more commonly referred to as bad breath, curing the problem may be easier than you think. You can may small changes to your daily routine and lifestyle that will help you to have fresher breath-and more confidence. Most of these changes are fairly cheap as well, and are things that are good for your overall health, such as eating more fruits and vegetables throughout the day.

The accumulation of bacteria in the mouth throughout the day may be one of the causes for halitosis, or bad breath. Gaseous compounds are created in the mouth when there is bacteria on the roof of your mouth or on your gums, and this can worsen the breath throughout the day if you’re not constantly brushing and flossing. Even if you are chewing mint-flavored gums or candies each day, you may still experience halitosis if you have consumed foods that you are allergic to. Periodontal disease is also a reason for halitosis, and is a disease of the gums that can be treated by your dentist to keep your mouth free of bacteria and impurities.

Dry mouth can also be a cause of halitosis, and this can be caused by not consuming enough fluids during the day. You should make sure that you are drinking plenty of water every day. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables each day will also help you to avoid bad breath. Raw foods include enzymes and antioxidants that are intended to rid the body of toxins, so a liberal serving of them will most likely help you to have fresh breath all through the day. If you are taking medications for allergies or blood pressure, you may suffer dry mouth on a daily basis, which can produce bad breath and halitosis. So, you may have to increase your fluid intake to generate more saliva in your mouth, which will clear away bacteria buildup.

Treating halitosis can include doing simple things like brushing your teeth more often, and rinsing your mouth out with strong mouthwash after every brush. You can also try brushing your teeth with both baking soda and toothpaste to reduce the amount of bacteria in your mouth. Be sure to floss a couple of times a day as well, since this will help you to get rid of food particles that you may not be able to reach with a toothbrush. Following these steps, in addition to a healthy diet, will help you to get rid of halitosis in no time, so you can feel comfortable interacting with people again.
